Front Suspension repair/replacement 700 1988

List,

I already read (and printed)the FAQ information on this task, but I'm rather perplexed right now. The front left corner has dropped. Looks like the spring has broken? It's sitting like a Honda in California, but only on that corner. So, I've jacked it up, and I was expecting the suspension to come back down when the car went up, but, well, it didn't. The spring doesn't look broken, but it may be. I haven't yet dropped the assembly. Just confused that it didn't come down. Any guesses as to why? I hate front suspension... I miss working on my 122. :-) Thanks in advance-

Nathan

Check the upper strut mount and bearing as well as the spring and the strut. None of these are very expensive and it might be worth your while to rebuild the entire lot with new components, which will last the remaining life of the car.

The strut insert is most likely stuck/seized in the compressed position keeping the spring partially compressed.

Colin.
