my 84's engine harness is in bad shape,there is an 85 in the local auto recycler that seems in much better shape. are they interchange-able? or is it advisable to try to buy a new harness,if so where? thanks for all your help,Kris

If it's a non-turbo, '84 is different from '85.

If it's a turbo...I believe they're the same.

It helps to give all the info.

'84 and '85 are not interchangable, '83-4 are and '85-8 are. Dave Barton is a good source for good used at a much reduced price.

I'm just about ready to replace mine in an '83 240. If you haven't ordered one yet check Dave Barton whom I already saw a reference to on a previous reply. He has a lot of good information about this process. I found a used replaced harness for my Volvo from Dan at ddvman@comcast.net. It was reasonable compared to purchasing a brand new one. Good luck in your search.

Barton is good. If he has what you need, I'd recommend him. We also bought a new one from Swedish Engineering because we needed it right away. They were good to deal with, but Chris hasn't answered my last two e-mails so I don't know if they've changed parts guys or what. If you decide to go new, they had a better price than other places we checked. Just call their main number.
