Nipple (Turbo) Question 900 1991

I have owned this 940SE for 5 years and never really noticed that there is a nipple on the bottom of the turbo with a small hose attached to it. Well the hose came off and I thought it best to put it back on but then notice that the previous owner ( a Volvo mechanic) plugged the other end of the hose with a small screw. In other words, the other end of the hose that goes from the nipple is plugged. Any ideas what this is all about? Thanks.

    Nipple (Turbo) Question 900 1991

Sounds like the hose that's supposed to run between the turbo compressor nipple and the wastegate actuator. On a "normal" setup, if the line you describe becomes disconnected, the turbo would produce an extremely high level of boost... enough to damage the engine.

Can you see if there is another vac line attached to the wastegate actuator (cannister-looking deal just below the compressor)? I guess your PO could have routed the vac lines differently for some reason...
