240 Turbo cam seal 200

It appears I have a front cam seal blowing oil. So much so that it flooded the distributor enough that it now misfires. I guess I'm gonna have to fix it. Can it be fixed without removing the timing belt? I imagine the book says yes, but I'm hoping brickboarders may know of an easier fix. My timing belt only has about 5k miles on it.
Thanks,
Mark

the belt has to come off the cam gear. if the belt is wet with oil, you need another belt. i replace all 3 seals when i do a belt, cheap insurance. then check the flame trap setup-turbos have most of the parts, just not the screen. the small port on the intake and the plastic pipes all have to be clear and the oil seperator clean, also. those i like to replace at 100k. insurance, again. good luck, chuck.

The timing belt willl need to come off and if one seal is bad the other 2 won't be far behind. If the timing belt is soaked in oil you should replace it also. Still a cheap fix $20 in parts. Dan

Thank you gentlemen. I had the head redone and put it back together myself and apparently didn't do it right 5k miles ago. Not looking forward to getting back in there, but there I am......
