what is the going price for tint on a 240 85 ? any inquires much appreciated

My 245 was tinted all around for $225 about 4 years ago in So. Oregon. The shop I use has tinted over 5 cars for me and I have never had one bubble on any of the cars. The shop I use won't even consider putting on illegal tints even if you ask. The only way he will put on darker tints is if you have a medical release. My shop also puts all the tints on without having to remove any of the windows or door panels!

The best way is to just ask around when you see people with nice tints on their cars.

Good luck! I will never own any car with having all the windows tinted.

Reading Don's post, I guess my son used the "good" shop in Santa Barbara a little over a year ago. They tinted the rearmost 5 windows in his 244 for about $135 as I recall. The guy seemed to know 240's and removed the door panels skillfully. Very good quality work, no bubbles or missed areas. 16 months later no problems. That includes all last winter in western Canada (some really cold days) and last summer back to CA and hot weather.

There are a few scratches in the side windows where people tried to scrape frost off the interior with something sharp....after all, it's just plastic film! My son went (as teenagers do) for the darkest legal tint, and this impairs your ability to see out at night, particularly when backing up. He now says he'd have gone a little lighter. Live and learn.

Don - I can't remember the name of the SB shop...it was on lower Chapala, pretty much across from El Paseo.

I know the shop but don't know anyone who has had work done there. My cars were done at Showcar on Lower Milpas by the freeway. I chose their shop after asking around town and seeing the work they had done on a friends car.

Here in Santa Barbara there is one really good shop and a handful of shady operators. The good shop charged me $200 ea for the 240 (5 windows) and the 740 (9 windows!), lifetime warrenty against peeling, bubbles and fading. It's been over a year for the 740, which has to live outside, and no sign of any problems.

You get what you pay for when it comes to window tints. You don't want to have someting that is going to turn purple and start to seperate in 6 months.

Anywhere from about $100 to over $300, depending on the quality of the tint and the installer. I got a quote of $165 for my 245 from a local shop with a good reputation. I'd advise looking for a shop with a long reputation and a lifetime warranty. One really bad summer can screw up even the best tint job.

also depends on location. A recent trip to FL found a tint shop on every corner, with cutthroat pricing. In Michigan, most any place is $200+
