anyone seen this scenario?

the self diagnosis is just 1 tool. when that 1 isn't telling you anything, you need more tools. how's the fuel pressure? volume? is the speed sensor intermittent? coil? car and rotor bosch? wires ok? throttle sw adjusted ok? lotsa ways to go. good luck, chuck.

1990 volvo,l-jetronic2.4,runs, but not very well,doesnt die ,spark plugs look good
almost lean,new filter ,pump pressure 36-40 psi,stethoscope + noid light confirm
injecters working; every so often it will come into it and run fine, for a short spell.....no error messages on computer.

Dear Mr. Guzzi--

Someone on a recent thread reported having a rotted out cat that was intermittently plugging and unplugging. Apparently there was a lump inside it that would shift back and forth--sometimes giving ok exh flow and sometimes not.

Bang on your cat and see if you hear anything rattling or loose.

How old is it? Had any extensive running rich? (which would tend to burn it out early).

Is the housing rusting out?

A common problem on the 240's, is the fusebox.
The fuses are crap!

Try to dis-assemble the fuses, check them in good lighting! You can spray some crc on them. Maybe you have to bend the fuse-holders, if they are loose.

Once I was driving with my friends 240, with B23E, then suddenly the car had no accelleration. We then found out the fuses had VERY much corrosion on them.

I would also check the sparkplug wires, the coil, the condensator (I think that's the English name), also vacuum hoses?
