Question for Lucid 200

Lucid,

Thanks for your help with the Fuel Injection questions. I replaced the ECT (the hard one to get at). I thought it made no difference, but when I started it up this morning it acted much better. It is still not perfect, but far less worse than it was. So my question is, could the rest of my problem lie in the boost pump. I hear no prime when the ignition is on. The primary pump is fine, but I question the boost pump. Thanks a lot for all your help in figuring this one out.

Brett

    Question for Lucid 200 1987

    Brett,

I question whether the In-Tank pump is/could affect your cold-running symptoms. And there is no "automatic Key ON Prime" with LH 2.2 (even though some may do it randomly).

Is the tank pump working? You can test removing Fuse #4 and jumpering +12V from Fuse #6 (always hot, so you can do it with Key OFF and listen for the pump. (Jumper between the "hot" – Left Side – fuse holder contacts.) You can ignore fuse #6. It's a dummy on LH 2.2.

I'd also look for vacuum leaks as I mentioned in the other thread. I'll repeat the Propane method here to save you hunting back—

—I use Propane to test for vacuum leaks (less messy than carb cleaner or other sprays). Take the nozzle tip off a simple propane torch and replace it with a piece of snug fitting rubber hose about 2 feet long. Practice with the valve to get a moderate flow of gas (not a roaring blast).

—With the engine running, open the gas valve and play the end of the hose close around each injector for a couple of seconds. If the seal is leaking, you'll hear the engine smooth out or rev up when the propane gets sucked in and burned. Same thing for any other suspicious areas.

—To block the breeze from the fan, lay a piece of cardboard from the fan shroud to the engine.

    Hope this helps,
