I'm the second owner if this 83 245T/M46 Its my favorite brick, but wife is looking at S80/T6s lately, so I'm thinking of selling. I live just north of Chicago, but this brick has never seen snow, so no rust anywhere, garaged, so no door dents - black with std tan leather interior. Besides standard stuff: 25mm IPD bars, 205/60x15 Michelins on Virgos, HD Bilsteins, Marchal E lights with plexi covers, heated seats, headrest pads, cargo cover, roof rack, cruise (don't know if it was standard this model), Pioneer CD, Polk front and ADS amp rear spkrs, oil and ambient temp gauges, 740 dome light - no engine mods. Haven't installed an intercooler, but its my spring project. I saw a similar 245 on eBay a few years ago with few mods that topped $10K, but I'd like to know what's reasonable. This brick is in perfect shape, but, as you may guess, I'm no where near objective. Thanks.

To paraphrase a quote I read somewhere else: Bills come and go, but once you sell it, it's gone!
I absolutely love my 245T. Any additional Volvos (or anything else) will be *additional.* I can't see selling my turbo wagon.

Of course it's your choice, however as the others have said you will miss this car. It sounds like you have one of the very few 200 series turbos left that is in really good shape. I have only seen about two or three in my town that are in decent condition at all. I'm really not sure what the value of the car is, but if every thing is as good as it sounds, it might be in the 5000 to 6000 range if not more. It depends how badly someone wants it. There was the famous almost $12000 bid 240 classic that sold last week with around the same miles as your car. I never seen a 240 worth this much before. hmm To some people the turbo might be even more desirable then the classic. Good luck with your move.

Do yourselves a favor- dismiss those awfully seductive S80's and find a S60 2.4T. Any time service comes up, you'll be glad you did.
Speaking with the mechanics who have to work on these things, the S80 twin turbo is the largest mechanical nightmare that you can ever imagine.
There is no "do it yourself" any more. Even the independent shops have had to get online computer connections to Volvo to even talk to the "check engine" light. There's a tremendous amount of labor involved in disassembly for what should be routine service tasks. Which wouldn't be bad if they didn't NEED service a lot- the oil leaks at the turbo return hoses alone are reason enough to avoid these cars like the plague, unless you like to spend your whole allowance on service work...
And then there's the General Motors automatic transmission... I am kind of amused by the idea that a subsidiary of Ford is buying major components from GM, but that still doesn't make the 4T60E any GOOD.
In contrast, the S60 turbos are far more reliable cars, keeping the same drivetrain essentially as the 850 and S/V70 lines. (Still have rear main seal leaks, but you'll get used to that).

But uh.. the S60s have that same non-DIY (for now anyhow) fiber optic electronic communication system. So in theory resetting the service light and such should involve the same labor. 'Course the engine will be physically smaller and have fewer turbos...

If I were in the drivers seat, I'd think of letting go of the 760 and or the 945. Trade in, sell what have you. Your 83 245T will be hard to compensate for, once it's in someone else's stable.
Then again, maybe I'm being too sensitive....in a moment of total brain fade, I let my 84, 245T (silver/ black-90%) go. Thought it was a good idea at the time !?

Id say a cars worth is sometimes relative to the location of the car. Here in coastal NJ and the NY/PA/CONN tri state area--your wagon would sell in the 3200-3800 dollar range-to someone who really likes volvos-. You dont mention the milage-which if it were to be exceptionally low-say like under 125k--then perhaps a bit more. Iv found that ebay is the best way to sell a car at its greatest value as you have the whole country looking at it--not just buyers looking in your area for a used car. The car you are talking about here--is probably one of my favorite volvos ever--and think it would do quite well on ebay--good luck--bet you will miss it -if you do end up selling it and getting your wife into a new fjord S60 and have to go to the dealer for service--and parts,

Thanks - you have a good point: I probably would miss the car, and I forgot the mileage. Got it with 68K and just turned 120K. I just remembered, it also has an updated water cooled turbo. Maybe I'll try eBay tho, but with a high reserve. (That's for people who don't really want to sell.)
