man, some days 200

I just have to vent a bit of frustration. First of all, my rear main seal is leaking, which I think is due to a PVC system clog. However, the hood release cable is frozen, so I can't look under my hood. It's cold in Canada right now. Then I notice that my tank of gas is going faster than normal, I look under the car near the fuel pump, and sure enough! a gas leak now too! So now I have to find where exactly the gas leak is and put a new line in there. oh joy. If all these dumb basic things would stop failing, I could put more money into fun things, like a strut-strut brace....always something....I guess we've got it coming though on nearly 20 year old cars...

I feel you man, its Murphy's Law though. I just replaced my wiper blades, now the wipers dont work (wiring in the steering column I think). I'm really not looking forward to that one. Installed new stereo, speaker wires are grounding out (not a biggie). Good luck with this one, you just cant catch a break.

I've been following your posts for awhile. I thought you'd hit a streak of bad luck when you snapped that cam. How many people do that?

There was also that valve spring. I forget the particulars but you seem to have had more then your share of trials.

But you haven't thrown in the towel. Anyhow, you look like a candidate for "takes a licking but keeps on ticking" award. I think Mac_Muz is a challenger.

Being one of those people whose philosophy is "what goes around, comes around",
my question to you is;

"WHAT THE HECK DID YOU DO?"

thanks for the sympathy...yeah, I've gone through one heck of a lot of trials on this car. the good thing is that it's definitely gotten to be a much better car in the 3 years I've owned it now, and I've basically become a self-taught (plus the brickboard) mechanic. So it's not all bad. Though yes, sometimes it is really frustrating when it just seems like one thing after another goes wrong. I'm sure not sure what I did to get this in return...in fact, i've tried my best to help friends and other people who have no clue about the workings of cars out, but it seems that just when I think I have all the major things taken car of on my car, a new and expensive thing breaks. eh, what can you do? I'm not the kind of guy to give up though, especially when I'm now at the point when the car has an ENTIRELY new suspension, brakes, and many, many other parts. Eventually I'll have a new car in an only slightly rusty shell, but ah well. still better than $250-500 a month payments on a new car....well, I couldn't afford that anyways, I'm a college student...

I feel your pain.

Yesterday must have been the coldest day yet this year, and this weekend is the only chance I have to fix this exhaust gasket problem, (see my previous post).

Hopefully our bricks will appreciate all our attention. (Also, hopefully our wives will appreciate how much $$$ we are saving by doing all this stuff ourselves!!!!!!!)

Hang in there,

Only thing my wife would aprreciate is for me to sell the Volvo and get another Japanese car. Oh well!
