one dumb question 200 1985

When i want to exchange the carburettor engine in a 240 for an fuelinjection engine, do i need to change the fuel tank?

with the engine i got the injection fuel pump with the buffer thing...is there a normal pump in the original non-injection fueltank or do i need to put a pump in the tank.

also...i heared some people talk about a fuel return line from the engine to the fueltank....is this different from the return line which is used with the carburator engine?

I'm not that smart so i hope someone can give me some answers about what parts to change when converting fom carb engine to K-jet engine (turbo)

"do i need to change the fuel tank?"
FI needs an in tank fuel pump which is attached to the sender, so you just need to switch senders not tank.

Why are you not happy with your carb? Are you in Australia (Cdn carbs ended in '84)? What model carb?

Take a look in the engine compartment of a FI 240 and compare it to yours. Do you really want to put a rat's nest of hoses, wires etc. in there?

"is this different from the return line which is used with the carburator engine?"
My carbed engine doesn't have a return line. But FI will need it.

I may be off base, but...you may have to do a bit of rewiring and ECU swapping for starters. The injectors need a steady high fuel pressure....not sure of NA fuel pump pressure or if there is an intank pump, and or canister fuel filter (mounted on firewall -driver side) on NA equiped Volvos.
Your best bet would be to check out one of the manuals (Bently. best bet) and compare set up info on NA to FI.

I'll try to dig up more.
