Which Synthetic Auto Tranny Fluid to use with AW71?

Is the Mobil 1 tranny fluid any good? Should I go Amsoil? Who is running synthetic fluid in their tranny? All comments, concerns welcome.

I just bought a 95 940T with 116k and I'd like to go all synthetic asap. Thanks.

I have used both. Both are good. The Amsoil seems to perform better - smoother shifting and better gas mileage. I can say this with pretty good confidence, since I drained the M1 after a year (after seeing how well the Amsoil worked in my other car).

Both are vastly superior to the conventional fluid. I was having a problem with my 240 burning fluid and this problem stopped with the synth

    I don't sell the stuff - yet.

I've been using Red Line for a while now.

Results? Well, I dunno. Started using it at about 100K and now at 206K, so it seems to be working fine.

You may want to drop the tranny pan and clean out all the crud and completely flush the unit before you put in the expensive ATF.

    Good luck....

I run the Amsoil universal ATF in mine( Yes I sell the stuff too, shameless plug ) It works great in my '93 940 turbo, I haul an older 15' ski boat around regularly with it with no worries. I run the 0w-30 full synthetic in it as well.
