This fellow advertises the car as "Smoke Free" yet you can clearly see the cigarette burns on the carpet in the photos. Come on now, we can lie better than that can't we Mr. ATMUNITED?
$4000 "Buy it Now" for a 91' 240 with 145K, yeah right.

Using the eBay ad and its pictures, see if you can identify these things the seller says are on the car:
1. Allow Wheels (not wheel covers)
2. Center Arm Rest (rear arm rest is listed separately)
3. Compass/temp gauge
4. Front Wheel Drive
5. Moon Roof (is that same as the sun roof?)
6. Power Mirrors
7. Side Impact Protection System (SIPS, aka side air bags)
Another good reason to NEVER, EVER buy a sight-unseen car, eBay or elsewhere.
Regards,
Bob

WHHAAAAATTT????
Somebody misrepresenting on eBay??? This must be a first. The only problem is and maybe someone should point this out to any of the bidders... IT'S A 13 YEAR OLD CAR WITH 145,000 MILES (234,000 KM). The last time I checked, this is maybe a 500 dollar wholesale car??? Remember the burgundy 93 Classic wagon last week that had the nice photo spread??? The last time I checked the bidding was up to a stratospherically stupid $11000.
Gosh these slimy used car dealers must love the people who buy this crap off eBay....
Happy Bricking!!!!

That classic went for almost $12,000.
Geez, I have a Classic wagon that I'd let go for $8000 and it only has 79K on it...
I need to find the second-highest biddder.

Yea, I love how some people say they don't or never smoked "IN" the car, but what they mean is they didn't "USE" the ashtray. Instead they smoked in the car, or 1/2 way in the car, and tried to blow the smoke out the window and threw the butts out.....
I guess that is like saying I have never wet my pants, but alway's drying my hands ON them after every wash. Er....something like that, gosh it's early what AM I doing up?

I was just thinking, you did your ball joints, what, last week? You live in Minneapolis!!! OH baby it's cold out there. I did my Intermediate exhaust pipe in New York last week, was 7 degrees and I thought I was nuts (so did my neighbors). Whew, you got me beat

I did the tie rod ends among other stuff. However I cheated, I used my brother's insulated garage so it was about 45 degrees in there. I am not about to brave sub-zero weather to do car repairs if I don't have to. YOU GOT ME BEAT!!

I'm glad you did it indoors. I was hoping most Bricksters were smarter then me. : )

Maybe he didn't smoke in the car, but the previous owner did? :)

Perhaps he means smoke-free under the hood. Or in the trunk.
Are you sure those aren't moth holes?

Maybe it just means they took the ash tray out...
I note that it is an auto tranny also. -5 points for that.

I was thinking that the car didn't burn oil. Smoke free from the tailpipe.
Gees, I don't remember ever opening my ashtray...not even to put coins in.

Ahh, George, I'm getting to the age when I don't want to think about shifting gears. Ten years ago I wanted manual trannies, now I lean toward automatics.

Don,
You're getting shiftless?

At some point, it happens automatically.

Perhaps Don is tired of manipulating his stick?
It's more fun with two pushing in the clutch...
But no carpooling- otherwise your marital dispute could have throwout bearing.

"Perhaps Don is tired of manipulating his stick?"
Why manipulate if there's a better way?
"It's more fun with two pushing in the clutch..."
The clutch is not what I prefer to push.
"But no carpooling- otherwise your marital dispute could have throwout bearing."
Doesn't it depend wholly on with whom I carpool? Anyway, I find that a good, well-lubed tailshaft bushing affects the riding vibration more than the throwout bearing.

"tailshaft bushing"- ha ha ha! My hat's off to you, master Foster (briefly- It's DAMN COLD here)
|

Yeah -- a colleague was in Maine last weekend and is still complaining about the cold.
Still, it's cold enough here, too....
In fact, it's so cold that my tailshaft bushing tool disappeared.

Could be worse- at least this is an aberation in southern ME. A few years back while on a business trip, my parents' '84 Dodge van broke down in upstate VT, just a few miles east of Lake Champlain. This was February, and about 1 AM. Turned out to be the voltage reg., if I remember. So we spent the night in the van, which hadn't had heat in about 300K anyway. Temp got down to like -35, and more than a foot of snow fell by morning. Locals didn't seem to think the weather was remarkable...

You nailed that one. I hate it when somebody advertises something like that when it's blatantly untrue.
I'll have to file that one with all the "leather interior" DLs that pop up on ebay. You can clearly see the wear through the fabric backing on the vinyl on the driver's seat, but they still claim it's leather.
BTW, back in '89 my Grandmother had the hots for a Lincoln Mk. IV that was for sale next door to the senior center where she worked. She came home and was telling me all about it, how it was all original, and how nobody had ever sat in the back seat. Right...
I went to look at the car, it was grey with a burgundy interior. I had a suspicion, opened the door, and there it was... The car was a repaint, and they'd done a really bad job on the jambs. Originally it was silver, and they'd repainted it a non-metallic grey. I pointed it out to the old lady who was selling it, and she started cussing me- she told me I was an idiot who didn't know anything about cars, and that I should shut the hell up. Then she ordered me off her property.
BTW, she didn't know anything at all about the cars she'd sell. She bought them one at a time from her son, who was the sales manager at a new car dealership. He'd sell her the cars that were traded, but too old to retail on their lot. She'd then act like she was the original owner.
I put some nasty chips in the side of that car slinging gravel on the way out of the driveway. It wasn't what I was aiming to do, just a pleasant side effect.
