Hi-

I've replaced the struts on my 94 945 recently (I'm not the original owner) with a new pair purchased through Ebay. After only six months, the gate is once again landing on my head. Anyone have a suggestion for better struts? Or has my gate gained weight?

Good p.m. and may this find you well. Gas struts, like any other mechanical item, can fail prematurely, because of a manufacturing defect.

If you bought them from a car parts company, let them know they've failed. They likely will stand behind the product they sold.

What is the manufacturer's name (e.g., Stabilus, etc.)?

If you bought them from an individual, it likely will be harder to get them replaced, but not impossible.

I bought new struts from FCP Groton - via e-Bay - and the strusts have worked fine in two 945s.

I doubt your hatch got any heavier.

The name silkscreened on my struts is "Meyle" and I believe I got them from eeuroparts.com but I can't find any paperwork etc. I guess I'll try them first and see what they recommend. Just wanted to try to get a few other brands to look for that are proven to work.
