Rear mount battery 140-160

There's a rear mount battery in that 165 from a few posts ago.
Anyone have specific recommendations about doing that?

Rear mount battery 140-160

Batteries give off hydrogen gas when charging, therefore it needs to be in an approprate sealed box with a vent to the outside. Motorsport suppliers should have them.

You also need good quality cabling, the longer the cable the higher the voltage drop.

Frankly its a lot of work without discernable gain for a road car.

Hi Pete,

I agree with the questionable advantages re weight distribution and handling improvement.

The more important issue with relocating the battery is to free up a bit of all important real-estate in the engine compartment (which is somewhat small in the 140) that can be used when a motor swap is done so that there is a bit of extra room for elaorate intakes or even intercooler plumbing.

One other point is that relocated the battery will no longer be exposed to under bonnet temps which may improve its life.

But if the car is going to be completely stock engine wise a battery relocation should be way down on your list of mods.
