Same rear shocks for 740 sedan and wagon? 700 1988

I found a recently salvaged 740 turbo sedan at a yard yesterday and noticed the rear shocks look new. Will they fit a wagon?

Today I'm going back and will look more closely to see what brand and if they're indeed new or had just been wiped down by whoever pulled the rear end out of the car.

Salvage yards are great! The shocks are new Monroe "gas-adjust" or something similar but at $5 for the pair plus mounting bolts who cares. They'll do for the time being.

Also picked up a complete pair of OEM Bosch foglights, brackets, buckets, hardware, lenses, good lamps and the plastic air scoop thing that channels air from the three vents to the radiator, the tow hook cover, a new high beam, door marker lenses and a pound of hardware odds-n-ends.

Grand total, including the $5 for the shocks? $20! Too bad I just won an ebay auction for new foglight brackets and buckets for $46. Guess they'll be good spares.

All the parts came off of an '87 740 turbo sedan that burned from the inside. I don't know what the were doing back there but it wasn't a good idea.

"one piece at a time... and it didn't cost me a dime.."

Yes, they are the same. The wagon springs are made for a heavier load than the sedan springs.

      Thanks John,

Today's payday and I'm going "shopping".
