Check Engine Light and occasional stall 700 1989

My problems started a couple of years ago when to make a long story short I have the following work done at a dealer:

New knockdown cable on Transmission
Throtle body cleaned
Oil trap cleaned / replaced
Mass Air Flow sensor replaced.

Since then I have started having the problem of the Check Engine Light coming on. After taking it to a garage with code-reading ability they advise that it is the MAF code but checked out the new part and it is funcitoning fine. Suggested that maybe the problem is the in-tank fuel pump which I replaced. Still the problem persists that on occasion the light comes on and the car hesistates when driven on the road but generally 'get's through it' however if at idle when this occurs the car stalls. The car will not immediately re-start but does after 1-2 minutes and then runs fine until the next occurance.

PLEASE and help would be appreciated! What could cause this code? Fuel delivery problem? Any like problems encountered?
