Per,
Looks great!
I really want to know about those Julianos seat belts.
I see from the site that you still have the factory bracket between the seats that the buckle goes into. Does the Julianos buckle mate with the original Volvo assembly?

I really need some belts for my 71 142E.

I am in MA and cannot find any U-Pull-It yards to gather belts from, so I need to buy new ones.

Thanks,
Jeremy

Nope, they use they're own inner buckle...I mounted it where the stock one was..works pretty well. Taupe matches the 140 interior as well.

I had a free moment, so I've posted another update, with pictures of the brake redo and the seats.

Where did you guys source the Stainless Steel brake lines?

Thanks for the post and link to your site. It brings back memories of the 69 144 I used to own many years ago. It had the very same Ivory color interior as yours. Keep us posted.

Looks great... Wow, amazing how well that thing polished up...even the rust on the rear pillar. I wouldn't have even bothered painting it at all until the poor thing got into its little conflict. That's really a bummer.

I'll assume you checked that blue 142 in the scrap yard for an overdrive...? Seems a lot of '74s had 'em stock.

Keep up the good work!

-Matt

Yea, the rear-ending pushed it over the edge. It goes in for paint on the 1/2, after I strip just about everything off of it.

The 74 in the junkyard is an automatic...in fact, it's the most loaded up B20 I've ever seen....powersteering, a/c, automatic. Must have been pretty sluggish.

The P/S doesn't suck up that much ... the auto - oy! It takes acceleration from "adequate" to "leisurely". Such said, I don't dare to see what would happen should I put one of 'em old york A/C's in.

I suppose it could be worse ... in the same era, some of the Japanese cars were equipped as such (PS/AC/Auto), but with even smaller engines.

Yeah, a friend of mine, (a girl), has a 74 all decked out as said, and she and her sister use it as their daily driver. They aren't into cars at all, but it serves them swell. I've been for a ride in it, slushbox and all, but she wouldn't floor it... (I bet she was... HAH!)
It works, and is a good daily driver for them.

Per,
Looks really good! That's the same year and color combo as my Momma's car 'cept she's got a wagon. We had to dump the motor right away as the leaks around the extra butterfly flaps in the cast intake manifold ate some holes in a coupla pistons. This, at only 144,000 original miles. Damn pipefitters nightmare as the Walrus likes to call it. Currently running the aluminum manny with HS6's bolted to the "how not to build a motor" motor.
Your seats came out much better than hers but I haven't tied to use BLEACH! yet.
Keep 'er goin'!
Happy Holidays all!
Shayne.

The seats came out ok...but then I started in on this "patching" thing with the upholsterer and we wound up just replacing all of the fabric with a close, but no quite tweed. Looks awesome. I then went to our junkyard and got the rear seat from the 74 142 to recover in the new stuff...why update? It's about 40 lbs. lighter than the wood/steel couch that is in there...foam instead of wood!

The back seat out of my 144 was the same old wood planked setup, so maybe the two doors had it different, or that it was replaced with a 240-series rear bench at some point.

I have a set of the Rigel rims too, and having had them at some point or another on each of my three latter Volvo's, they only looked good with the 144. It must be all the chrome ...

-- Kane ... something has to match the platter sized S/S center caps.

The rear seat update loses 20 lbs. off of the car....and is more comfy.

I'm going to use the wheels without hubcaps...sort of a campagnolo look, ala sixties Alfas...
