Spot sandblaster. 140-160

I just got one of those spot sandblasters, like this:
http://www.toolking.com/grip/view.asp?id=4487
and it works pretty well. I'm using a 3.5 hp compressor and it seems not to overwork it CFM and pressurewise. Left a nice clean surface using slag media with just enough roughness to apply some rust preventative prep. Lots better than grinding and filling.

It doesn't recover the media worth a darn, but there's little blowback to your face if you keep it tight to the work surface. It's not any louder than a spray gun and doesn't make a dust cloud. Well worth the $20.

I've even heard you can used baking powder to remove paint, I'm looking into gathering resto tools for a project, Por 15 looks better and better, don't really know about cutting out the existing rocker panels, or if the ones at millsully.com would fit well. Are you replacing any body panels yourself?

not that long ago (2-3 years) I got some decent rust repr panels from JC whitless. They fit and were cheap. Complete rocker and lower fender bits front and rear.

Fortunately I don't need any new body panels. For the amount of time and money it takes to do that I bought a whole Oregon car, no rust through anywhere.
I've got a torch, but welding in panels is much easier with a mig welder.

I couldn't agree more. I got mine, oh, 12-15 years ago and have been very happy with it. Apart from cleaning a lot better than any sanding could, it only cleans that small spot that needs to be done. I second the recommendation.

Erling.
