Went to the junk yard today. Couldn't find any rear bumpers without the corrosion. Guess I'll just have to repair mine.

    What year is your volvo? Where are you located? Give us some details, we might be able to help out. I know I have about 3 of 4 bumpers that are laying around looking for a home.

      My car is a 1990 245 and I live in RI. For some reason these bumpers corrode were they are bolted to the bumper shock. Some kinda dis-similiar metal corrosion.

        Yep. RI and MA are tough on cars. All that salt, plus the different metals on our cars, cause electrolytic corrosion.

        I fixed mine by simple slapping some big mutha washers under the bolt heads and then throwing the black plastic cover back on. The washers bridged the corroded-out sections. The plastic bumper covered my sloppy, makeshift but successful repair.

      hello there. i go on a regular basis. to the junkyard i usually do not find what i need exactly when i need it. but i will soon find it when least expected. sometime i buy stuff that i know i will need in the future. happy hunting.

        I know what you mean having gone 5 times in the last 2 weeks. Anytime I see a dash with a tach or a good wagon tail light I grab them. Its always possible that a car will show up that had a new bumper installed. I'll keep checking but in the mean time will start looking into the bumper repairs that people are doing. The only reason that I found the problem was because I was taking off bumper for some rust repair. Any idea if fuel gauge sending units are worth salvaging. Need 2 1 each for my 1990 240 and 245.
