light bulb hint 900

okay i burnt out a bulb on my 960 and after i fight my way out of wal-mart on a saturday get it
when you take it off there is a black plastic clippy ring around the bulb assembly and wiring harness meet.
now common sense didnt kick in for me so just as a public service announcement.
1. put bulb in where you took the old one from.
2. put black bosch clippy (new engineering term) around it.
3. after you put the wiring harness back on turn them on and turn high beams on.

if you dont have the wiring just right for the german engineer tolerances.
1. it'll look really dim
2. high beams it turns off and you get your "ligh out" idiot light.

so just for future reference

Well, you may have more than one issue going on here. Early 960s use the 9004 bulb which is just short of the illumination from a 'D' battery Maglite. Recall, you must replace all bulbs in pairs. If not, it will trigger the bulb failure light to respond to the difference in impedence. I'm not sure what you mean by "the wiring just right'. In the 6-8 bulbs I've every replace in the 960 and V90, it is a matter of plug and play. It's difficult to influence the wiring when it's all incased in a terminal, unless you have a loose connection within the lume. My most difficult task has always been getting those assemblies to seat correctly in the lense shell.

yeah on mine the wiring was just loose and just getting the buld positioned right took care of it , its one of those parts that will never fail when you have plenty of light too see it.
