No heat 200

Hi all, I tested my heater and it is not working, the fan blows fine but no heat. I am assuming it is the heat/cool slide switch, but before I replace that, I was wondering if it could be something else. I assume my heater core is fine due to the fact that my coolant level is always fine, and certinly no water anywhere inside my car. My slide switch is the only thing I can think of..If it is my slide switch, will any year 240 heat/cool switch work? Additonal info that probably isn't needed: A/C is bypassed with ipd kit. The heater did work, last time I used it was to cool the engine during a 4 hour high speed 85mph+ road trip. Worked fine then..any ideas? Could I have stressed it during that trip, or does it sound like something else? Thanks in advance Bricksters...franco79 1979 245dl 218k..(I wouldn't normally abuse my wagon with those high speeds for such a long time, but my father had a heart attack, I HAD to get to him in another city, ASAP) Take care!

"I am assuming it is the heat/cool slide switch,"

Remove the drivers console side kick panel. You'll see where the wire from the slide switch goes to the valve. Check to see if the wire has slipped loose from its holdown screw. Ie. move the switch while watching the wire.
