More cruise control stuff, and stuff 200 1990

I was just reading the last cruise control thread, but I thought I'd still post and see if I can get some more basic help. My cruise control doesn't work at all. I'm kind of new to the 240 series, and it's the first car I've owned with a cruise control, so a block of instruction would be appreciated. What and where are the components? The little motor looking thing on the firewall just above the throttle cable with the hoses and wires poking out of it: is that the servo motor? Does anyone have a wiring diagram? Thanx, Chris, for posting that troubleshooting guide; I'm hoping it will help, seeing as the Haynes book doesn't. The mechanic, who was going to check the vacuum hoses, says the system looks okay, so I assume I have an electrical problem. I'm a little miffed that he didn't track it down.

More cruise control stuff, and stuff 200 1990

That 90-93 240 cruise set is sweet and almost never fails. But I can put you in touch with a guy that had a devil of a time with it and sorted out a tough problem. He resorted to transfereing the system to another car to find out all components worked and it was a small but tricky issue in his car. I can also help with spare parts if you need them. There are 8 components:
    1) cruise ECU (above your brake pedal on top of the steering column)
    2) brake vacuum switch
    3) rubber servo connected to gas pedal by
    4) plastic ball and socket linkage
    5) ECU wire harness
    6) vacuum lines
    7) vacuum pump in engine bay
    8) control (turn sig) stalk

The system is prewired into your cars harness and is a plug and go option. The only weak link might be the speedo signal, but I am on thinner ice there. In case you have nothing obvious, write and I'll put you in touch with Bert S.
