How do I replace some dash lights? S90-V90 1998

I've got some lights out on my dash. I have the right half of the heater control panel out as is my heated mirror/defroster switch light.

How do I get to the heater control panel lights?

I just read in the Chiltons that I use a small screwdriver to remove the in-dash switch. So:

What bulbs do I use? I wonder if it's the same as the ones for the SC-816 radio?

help!

Do you have AC as well? You will have to remove the ECC controller and change the bulbs on the bench. I have changed my SC 816 bulbs (got them at Radio Shack) but not sure which ones are in the ECC controller. The controller comes out easily by removing 4 screws and the connectors once you remove the wood grain surround. 2 screws at the bottom and 2 release clips which are revealed when the radio comes out. The portion extending towards the steering wheel pops out. Just work carefully and don't break anything.

I have similar problems with my V90.

I got the radio out and replaced the lights in it. It was somewhat tedious to remove the bulbs from the holders and replace them but I made it. Per another post I got the bulbs from Radio Shack 272-1092.

Now to the ECC... I can see the two screws in the lower part of the trim pannel when I remove the ash tray but it looks like the trim cover for the shifter wants to come out first. How does this come out or is this not necessary? By the way the Volvo parts man said the ECC lights are not the same as the dash lights.

I also found the clips in the radio recess and was able to press them in but the pannel did not want to release over toward the steering colum. Since these things are reputed to be very fragile I left well enough alone and decided to seek futher instruction.

Also more-how do you get to the bulb in the center console stroage box?

How did you remove the trim panels? I haven't even started to pull my dash apart yet.

Have you figured out what bulbs go in the ECC yet?

If i rememeber corrctly you remove the screws in the storage well under the brake handle and slide the cover back. The portion of the trim towards he steering wheel pops out with the switches.

The storage compartment bulb is replaced from the rear. There is a plastic piece that is removed. When you get into the back set you will see it.

I misinformed. To get at the 2 bottom screws you remove the shifter surround and move it out of the way. It pries upwards. There are no screws in the cavity under brake handle. Sorry.

Right. Thanks. I'll go out today and sniff at my car to see if I feel like tackling it today. Must get this done before the cold season though. I made a mistake ONCE of working with plastic trim on a cold, cold day. *snap!* Never again.
