Dangerous Engine Cut Out S90-V90 1995

Recently was driving in town and engine suddenly cut out. Fortunately I was able to coast safely to a stop. The engine warning light showed and the manual indicated a problem in the ECS. After a few minutes the engine started and ran OK then began to run rough. Fortunately I was able to drive to my mechanics shop. The expensive Air mass sensor was replaced. Does anyone know if there are other sudden surprises in store from this otherwise reliable and comfortable car? 95 960 Wagon 125,000.

2nd Dangerous Engine Cut Out S90-V90 1995

SUBSEQUENT TO ORIGINAL POST....Engine cut out at freeway speed on hot day. Fault Codes read 115, 113. Engine reported 20 simultaneous failures! Dealer repair involved cleaning electrical connections to the "computer" (EMC)as a factory recommended step short of replacing the EMC. 126,000 miles

2nd Dangerous Engine Cut Out S90-V90 1995

Check the FAQ. There have been instances of battery cable corrosion, engine wiring harness gound point corrosion down low on the inatke manifold and other ground point corrosion, typical in a 700/900.

Air mass meters have problems with super hot intake air. The air cleaner flapper thermostat needs to be checked for proper operation and replaced if necessary. You can always remove the silver preheat hose and be done with it.

What is ECS?
Do you mean check engine light?
Was a fault code read from the OBD2?
An air mass meter can fail anytime on any car, that is nothing unique to the 960. I am surprised that your car stalled though due to a failed AMM.

The 960/S90 is very reliable. It must be meticulously maintained.
