My brakes always seem to freeze after vacation. What's up? 200 1989

Seems that everytime I leave my 1989 240 DL in my garage while I am on vacation, the brakes freeze up. Could it be that it is not happy to be left alone? Does anyone else have this probem?

I just tell my wife to put the pedal down and it usually breaks free before she gets out of the driveway. What gives?

The rotors are castings, probably a mostly-iron alloy. As such they rust real quick. That's all. The clearance between pad and rotor isn't much, so a little rust is all it takes. Apply the brakes and the rust is gone. Better done at a speed that will heat the rotors a bit.

    Good Luck,

    Bob

Changing the timing belt should solve the sticking brake problem.
