ATF Fluid Recommendations 900 1993

Hello folks,

Have a 93 940T (B23FT) wagon and am about to change my tranny fluid, is there any great reason to go to synthetic and what type would you recommend.

Thanks.

I have not changed mine to synthetic, but plan to do so within the next month. If I'm not mistaken, someone on this site added a temp guage for his transmission, and found that it ran about 20 degrees cooler with synthetic.
Since heat is public enemy #1 for auto transmissions, this sounds like a good preventive measure.

Check out the above site and recognize that Mobil 1 Transmisson Fluid is the way to go. Thorough flushing is recommended (www.ipdusa.com has a good flush kit). Avoid mixing non synthetic with synthetic, so you can have the full performance benefits.

I have just begun using Mobil 1 and notice a difference in shifting. Seems better defined. The major reason for using synthetic is heat or resistance to it. It will hold up much better in high heat and therefore better preserve your transmission against heat related wear.
