Are There Any Non-Volvo Wheels That Will Fit? 700

Next winter I plan to put Q-rated tires on another set of wheels.
I have been told that Ford Taurus will cross-fit. They are plentiful (i.e. cheap).
Does anyone know?

I'don't know about the 700, but just last week I tried a set off an 86 Taures on my 86 245, the center hole on the wheel was to small, also looked like the strut would have interfered had the hole been big enough.

Some RWD Ford 5-bolt patterns are a bolt on. You need to find something in 5X108mm. The Taurus uses a FWD offset that likely will NOT fit any RWD Volvos except for the late 960/S90/V90.

Get in touch with a wheel supplier- they have lots of crossreference charts listing what will fit which car.

Taurus wheels will indeed fit, but you need spacers to do it on 700 series. I've had them on my 760 for over a year now.

What year Taurus wheels. Reason for ? is I am wondering if Ford changed the pattern when they downsized the Taurus. I would like to put some after markets on but the prices are out of site here.

        TIA

Any year, no change in bolt pattern or offset - although offset will vary slightly from which diameter/width wheel you use. I've currently got 16" American Racing wheels for a Taurus (front wheel drive offset, I think around 38 or 40mm if I remember)on my 760. Once again, I've got spacers to make the offset more like the rear wheel offset of the Volvo, around 20mm I believe. Spacers are the difference of the 2 offsets.

I looked into this the other day. While FoMoCo uses the 5x108 bolt pattern on many of it's cars (Lincoln LS, Jag S/X type, Taurus, etc) the issue is that the centerbore is too small (see Mudduck's response). IIRC the volvo centerbore is something like 61.1mm, whereas the FoMoCo bores are around 58. If you wanted to use a FoMoCo FACTORY wheel, you'd need to machine out the bore by 3mm or so. Since Poweredbyford's wheels are aftermarket (american racing) my guess is that they are not hubcentric (ie, the wheel is resting only on the bolts). Depending on who you talk to, having non-hubcentric wheels puts a lot of strain on the bolts, potentially causing major vibration issues. I encountered a similar issue on my '91 M5. The wheels from the later 5 series (97-03) have the proper bolt pattern and offset, but the hubs are like 3mm larger. To have them fit properly, you have to source adaptor rings (Tirerack carries em) which shim the overbore down to the proper size. Naturally, this only works when the hub is too big, not too small =o)
            Hope this helps!

Wrong guess. Sorry to dissapoint you but they are hubcentric. If they weren't, they jump all around on the bolts. By the way, matching the bore is a simple and cheap solution.
