Off Topic - We just sold our first Volvo

Yesterday I saw Celia, our first Volvo, a 1988 745 GLE drive away. We purchased her 8 years ago and my daughter put 120,000 miles on her, often loaded to the hilt.

They traveled from Massachusetts to Edmonton twice and Saskatchewan once, toured the west coast twice, and North Carolina one winter. Two years ago, my second daughter joined my first on a west coast tour. Celia was so full that Chris had to mail three boxes home so that Sharon could use the passenger seat!

Serving a budding wildlife biologist, Celia was a model Volvo, always putting her shoulder to any task. I'll never forget how much mud she had on her the first time back from Edmonton, the wheels had "bowls" of mud inside them, I had to chop it out with a piece of wood and a hammer! Her new rotors were nearly gone! She still oozes a but of mud from the tailgate when she goes through a car wash, four years later.

While we are sad, she went to a good home, and I found out that her new mistress took her to the beach today!

Like all my posessions... I hurts to let go when you give a damn about them.

At least you feel comfort thinking it went to a good home. I hate when I sell something that I cared and maintained personally for many years just to hear or see how it has deteriorated since I sold it.

Sounds silly but my first car, '72 Chevy Vega (ok, laugh if you must), was my pride and joy. at 115000 miles, which was very high miles for that aluminum blocked 4 banger, I put in a Small block V8. Kept it looking stock except for the 8 cylinders under the hood. I would still have that car but in 1989 it was now my 'spare car' and my friend talked me into selling it to him. Well, the guy is still my friend but the hair sticks up on my neck when I think how he destroyed that car in short order. Man that car was fun.
If you respect and appreciate something...you will miss it.

Edmonton

You must have been up here in Edmonchuk in the spring.

Had it been summer - you would have been still scraping bugs off any forward facing surfaces.

There is nothing like a fine running Volvo....
