no brake lights 700

I'm having a problem with my '91 740. In november my brake lights stopped working, so I took it to a shop and they replaced the switch on the pedal, but that didn't fix it so they changed the bulb failure relay. That fixed the problem.
Last week I realized that my brake lights are not working again. The fuse is good. Could the bulb failure relay have gone bad again in only a few months? I popped the covers off of the old relay and the new one that they replaced to see if a solder joint was cracked or broken like it says in the FAQ. I'm not sure what to look for, everything looked fine to me. I really don't want to buy another $120 relay, and I don't know what else to look for.

Recently a family members 740 was having brake light troubles. Fuses were good and the bulb out light didn't come on. I took a look at the light assembly and found that two of the wires were pulled out of the harness and it was extremely dirty. I took it out and resoldered the wires and also added some epoxy to help hold it. I also cleaned and spray contact cleaner on the assembly.

If both rear lights have gone out, but the third brake light still works, then it is in the bulb failure relay. The connection that usually burns out is up on the top deck of the circuit boards inside it. I can't remember which pin, but with close inspection it should be noticable that the solder joint is blackened a little. If you're not certain, resolder all the ones you can reach. All you have to do is flow them a little bit. A bit of cleaning with a fine wire brush before hand would help, and a little soldering flux paste will make things go easier. You don't really need to add any more solder than you need to keep the iron clean- just reflow what's already on the board.
Work carefully to avoid making any bridges or short circuits between pins.
The brake light power wire comes from the switch to the relay, on one pin, then leaves the relay on two pins to go to the two taillights.
Also make certain your fuse is OK, but I'm sure you already checked this.
