After market central locking installation 200 1984

couple of months ago I asked about the installation of aftermarket kits. Skin's off, got down to figuring out the position of the actuators in the door but can't seem to figure out a good place w/o interfering with the windows..Anyone can tell me where exactly to fix the actuators.??

One more problem is my wiper is very noisy and jerky in intermittent and fast mode but fine in v.fast mode.any clue??

cheers

The pre-drilled holes mentioned by others can be found in the bottom corners of the doors near the B pillar. They fit both original L-shaped actuators (with an adapter plate) and the straight aftermarket ones.

While some swear by the original kit, I would go with an aftermarket one, as the original does not allow un/locking from the kerb side (real stupid in my view). Getting the connecting rods from a wreck is a good idea, but watch it: the original actuators' eyelets are 90 degrees offset compared to the aftermarkets that I have seen. So, the hooks on the rods need twisting if used with aftermarkets.

The central locking system installed in 81-Up Volvo are fairly common at the bone yards. If you do not want to pull the entire system out of an old Volvo it would save you A LOT of time and grief if you at least went to the bone yard and pulled all of the links from the motors to the door lock mechanism. Since they are PRE-BENT they fit in the door perfect and will not get in the way of the window or the door panel when your done. And at the very least it will save you the trouble of having to shape pieces of metal from your actuator to the door lock. I must admit that this upgrade was one of the best things I have ever done to my 79 264GL. It is such a neat feature and for the price of $30 at my local junk yards for the entire system it is worth it. I'm actually going back to get another system just in case something goes wrong with the one I currently have. It beats letting these neat upgrades go to the crusher where no one can use them. Good Luck!!!

If you are installing an aftermarket kit, even if mainly for the convenience of remote locking/unlocking, it would simplify matters greatly to use stock Volvo door lock motors and associated linkage and then use the aftermarket switches, controller, remotes, etc. The Volvo lock motors really work nice and are much better than the solenoids used in some lower priced kits. The Volvo motors (or lock motors in general) pull the mechanism instead of yanking on it like a solenoid does.

As kkurt points out, there are already holes in your door for the Volvo motors and would be much easier to add.

Have fun,

for the actuators/motors of the central locking

there are 2 PREDRILLED holes in each door.

You need 3 identical motors for the 3 doors except de driver

and a little smaller motor for the trunk/cargo

The position of the motors is down in the corner, under the little pulling knob

also need a links/linkages to connect to the "manual hardware" of opening and closing doors

very easy and straightforward

Best is to go do a junkyard and withdraw everything
Works with every year I think.
When I did this I opened every motor, cleaned it, and regreased it.

The mark is VDO / Bosch

You also need 2 relais(one for opening and one for closing) and one special switch in de drivers door.

succes
