physics of road noise w/ new shocks S90-V90

In a previous post, I announced new OEM shocks. One thing that I've noticed, besides improved ride, is an increase in road noise, especially tires. Is this possible? If so, please explain the physics of sound with the new shocks.... thanks!

Possibility #1: Your new shocks are no doubt firmer than the outgoing, worn-out shocks. This more rigid conduit between the wheel and body transmits more vibration.

Possibility #2: Your old struts were causing an out-of alignment condition with a less than optimal contact patch. Now, with proper alignment, you're putting more rubber on the road.

Possibility #1 is a likely explnation; so far that's what i'm sticking too, but I still don't understand 'why?, in sound transmission principles. Besides, new shocks should absorb better, including sound...right?

Possibility #2: No re-alignment done according tot he ticket. You cannot replace the OEM stuts, just the whole assembly, so I presume this did not require alignment.

Hmmmm - a Call for the intellectually gifted !!

a. They probably re-surfaced your favorite road.
b. Air pressues low
c. Hotter in summer - re. air pressures
d. The tires are actually touching the road - ergo - B4 ..

Hell, I don't know. I am from Alabama.

I thnk those are all good possibilities, allthough the roads have not been resurfaced. I did first notice it in Champaign, IL where street paving is an artform. I noticed that I couldn't test out my new shocks...no bumps!

I'll check the air pressure; haven't done that recently.

Actually vey unseasonably cool in IIL this past week. Hi of 70-80 lows n the 50s!

Well, the car is from Alabama too,
