looking for a m-46 tranny or OD unit for 84 diesel 200

help I am in NYC and need a tranny/OD unit for my 84 wagon diesel- reverse is no longer an option for me, it is gone...
Am willing to drive to get it- as long as I do not have to back out of anywhere
Also does anyone know where I might find a junkyard, er... salvage yard that sells these things
or anyone who is tryingn to sell one of the gems?

I no longer have reverse, and now must take the subway to work-packed like a sardine into a cattle car.- I want my reverse back.
I have decided to rebuilt the clutch, tranny, driveline, wheel bearings in an effort to keep the car running nicely till 229,000 miles when the timing belt needs to be replaced on the d24. At that time I will decide if I should re-opt my relationship with the diesel.

Thanks
chris

looking for a m-46 tranny or OD unit for 84 diesel 200

    Well -

I did have a 84 volvo diesel with a m-46 tranny/od. The said vehicle was sent to it's death to Red Bank Recycling & Auto Wrck, 732-747-7779. About an hour south of the city (exit 109). I know they strip all the vehicles that come in and just get of what's left. I can't say if they still have it or not. Good luck.

thanks for the tip- I am calling when they open.
I assume the car was wrecked for reasons other than transmission failure?

      Thanks

Yes - it just stop running. I believe the compression went south. It did have good leather seats.

I do recall the o/d didn't work I believe it was the wiring. the p.o. said it just stopped working one day.

There is a guy down here in GA with a manual diesel 245 for sale for $400/offer. Does not run due to typical loss of compression. His ad is fairly recent on the classifieds section. Maybe he'll part it out for you? I think there is another guy in York, PA with one in his garage for $50 or so. I have his info I think at home if you want it.

FYI, I had the same thing happen with losing reverse with my m45 on my '78 245. However, it only took about a month after that to lose 1st and 2nd... so don't go too far...
