Brake Pad Wear 900 1997

1997 Volvo 960 uneven brake pad wear left to right side.

The front and rear brake pad wear is significantly greater on the passanger side than the driver side. A new master brake cylinder, all new calipers, pads and Balo rotors have failed to eliminate the problem. There has been no damage to the car or the hydraulic system. The ABS system checks out OK. The car has 116,000 miles, is in excellent condition and is used primarily on interstate highways.

I would appreciate any known causes and corrective action.
Many Thanks!
SSwider

Is this true for both inner and outer pads? If the outer, as Steve says the pins may cause some dragging.

If both are affected it would mean there is residual pressure for some reason. Does the fluid flow freely when flushing? Maybe a brake line has been pinched or dented somewhere? If it were just one caliper I would say replace the rubber line as they can colapse.

Many cars wear the passenger faster due to more sand/grit being on that side of the road but you say interstate so that doesn't fit.

Uneven pad wear is usually a result of a problem inside the caliper: binding sliding pins is the prime suspect. If your new calipers did not come with new sliding pins, then take a look at that.
