Cruise control, 740 700 1987

Cruise control has stopped working, and the Haynes manual is no help. I've checked the vacuum lines, which had a tendency to fall off until I put little spring clamps on them, and they're fine. Any hints on how to analyze the problem? Costs? I sure like it for trips, and we're taking a long one next month.

As the FAQ says, be sure to check the brake and clutch (if applicable) switches. The cruise went out on my 87 740 and since I don't use it that much I didn't really worry about it. Then, when I adjusted my clutch cable (it was new and had streched a bit), the cruise worked again, and has ever since. On another car (non-Volvo), I had the same problem. I just adjusted the little electric switches on the pedals and the cruise came back on. The FAQ explains it all under Cruise Control.

There is a trouble shooting guide for the cruise control in the 700/900 FAQ.

Sorry, but I'm having trouble locating the cruise control troubleshooting in the FAQ. Can you direct me? Thanks.
