Waterpump for B230FT 900 1993

940 turbo 1993

My water pump is starting to make a "squiking" sound when the engine is revving more than idle. It doesnt leak but I think it would be safer to replace it. I did put some WD40 in the top hole behind the pulley and kinda fix the sound for a day or two.

Anyhow, is the waterpump all the same part number for a n-a engine or turbo?

There is a few of them for sale on e-bay but they dont list the 940turbo. Volvo part counter is asking 110$ CND and I'm wondering if it worth saving a few $. Maybe I should go with an original one and spend a few dollars more for it.

Any comments?
thanks,
JF

There are three choices in my mind.

1. Hepu (aftermarket).
2. Volvo.
3. GMB, since a lot of people use them (and I have occasionally).

In that order.

All of them are good, and honestly you might never see an appreciable difference in service life between the three.

The Volvo pump is overpriced and lasts no longer than the HEPU pump. THe HEPU pump is my favorite, and is 1/2 the price of the Volvo pump. So does that make the Volvo pump twice as good? I've had Hepu pumps last 100k miles with little measurable play in them. Really, they are an excellent alternative.

i strongly reccomend the factory part. the only aftermarket i have tried are hepu and gmb. i dont like either of them for fit or quality. if your only replacing the pump every 50,000 miles the difference in price is not worth the sacrifice in quality. the part # is 271975, and here in los angeles area the list price is about 84 dollars.
