'Low Coolant' light intermittantly 700 1989

1989 740tic, 119,000 miles, bad heater core.

Replaced the heater hoses, heater control and coolant (with Havoline Dex-Cool) and keep the overflow bottle topped up.

Why does the idiot light come on occasionally. No pattern to it, it just lights up. Where is the low cooant sensor for this?

Thought it was the "bulb out" indicator, until I read my owner's manual.

Having this low coolant feature (I think it is an option) does this mean I don't need that low coolant sensor mod I read about on Turbobricks?

Your car does not have a loss of coolant light , unless some one added one. If added the coolant sensor should be in the expansion reservoir.

There is a low washer fluid light and a bulb out light. The bulb light could come on when braking if you have a brake light out.

What does the picture on the light look like?
