Help! Is cyclinder #4 dead? 700

Hello,
I could really use some help. I have a 88 744 turbo with 241,000 miles on it. Here is the scenario. I parked the car in the garage and I didn't drive it for the next three days. I came out to go to work and lo and behold I have a three-cyclinder volvo! The car was operating with a miss. OK, so I checked and cleaned the plugs (they were fine) and then I checked the cap and rotor. Well the rotor nearly broke off when I took the cap off so I said AH HA! I found the culprit. I replaced the cap and rotor and still nothing in #4. Then I checked the plug wires and they checked out ok. Ok. so maybe its the injector I thoughtso I replace the injector with a good extra one I had. Still nothin in number four. So, my last test will be a compression check and it seems the outcome may be pretty grim. The only other wildcard in my setup is that the fuel pump is ready to be replaced as it is whining loudly. My question then is, has this sudden (and hypothetical) loss of compression happened to anyone else or could the fuel pump be so weak that there is not enough fuel getting to the last injector on the rail? When I pull the injector plug off #4 the car does not run any differently. I need to use my car directly so any suggestions would be appreciated.

update 700

I already swapped the plug wires as I didn't want to be fooled by something so simple but they are ok. I checked to see if I am getting power at the injector but there is no juice in number four. What would cause this?? What and where is the ballast connection? the only other thing I did while the car was sitting was I took the drivers seat out and unfortunately unplugged the SRS connection and now the SRS light is on. Is there something silly under the seat that would cause this and are these two somehow connected?? Beats me. So the immediate problem seems to be no power to the fourth injector. Once again, your input will be appreciated.

Before doing anything drastic, swap the plug wire. They can fool you.

I once had a bad connection at the ballast pack caused a dead miss. make sure you have power to the injector.
It doesn't make sense to have an internal failure from sitting, well maybe a stuck valve?

Rolyak,
you were right. I had a wire broken off the ballast pack. Thanks.

remove plug, plug into lead, place against block holding in suitable insulated tool, have car cranked over - do you see spark?

remove injector, reattach to wire, aim into jam jar, have car cranked over..do you get juice?

if the answer to both is YES..then

change the leads....

checke spark plugs is FIRMLY seated....

replace dizzy cap/rotor

consider nastier things...
