1986 240 DL Wagon, ATE or Gerling? 200

Hey, i was just wondering if anyone knew how to tell if my auto 1986 240 DL wagon was ATE or Gerling pads? It looks like i have gerling in the front and ate in the back. Is there a number somewhere on the car that tells me for sure? Thanks for any help. This board is the greatest board ever!

The rear calipers have a "G" on them. Does this mean they're gerling? The number that was supposed to identify the kinda pads is worn off. Thanks for any help.

No. My rears have both "Ate" and "G" embossed on them.

Check the FAQ for proper visual identification.

That said, I believe all 80s and 90s 240s (at least US Spec) had Ate calipers in the rear.

Open your hatch. There should be a sticker on the right hand area beside the hinge or in the engine compartment. This sticker should say something about fuel system, and brakes, etc. The number on the sticker should be 2. This means that you have Girling front breaks and ATE rear breaks. That is the combination that I think they used from 1983 on.

If you have a number 1 then there is Girling breaks all around.

If you look in the FAQ you will find diagrams of what each look like.

The most popular is girling front and ATE rear.
