Overheating Follow-Up

As an update on my 1987 240 223k miles overheating, it now looks like it's the compensation board. The other day, needle dropped instead of rising, after engine had warmed up. Had the cooling system checked and everything checked out fine. Hitting on the dash also seems to help. Unsettling, but I will have to learn to live it for a while, I guess. Thanks for all the advice.

Good. You can try cleaning the pins on the board. Pretty easy. Or get another board cheap. There are more electronic fixes.
