Interior room 1800

Hi there. I'm seriously thinking about buying an 1800 but have a concern about size. I'm around 6'4" and I wonder if I'll comfortably fit in the drivers seat. The smallest things I've ridden in to compare it to are my mother's Saturn coupe and a friend's Acura Integra. I fit in these pretty well, do you think I'll have problems riding in an 1800? I wish it were as easy as going down to a dealer and trying one out but the closest one I've seen for sale yet is still a pretty good ride from me.

Thanks,
Sean

Sean, I too am 6'4" and have recently re-upholstered my 1965 1800S, new foam and new webbing on the bottom of the seats and adjusted the height of the seat from the floorboards to what I thought would give me enough headroom. I installed the drivers seat and got in and there was plenty of headroom, visibility was fine and petal distance was fine. After adjusting the back support slightly the seat was very cumfortable. There are several adjustments you can make to the seats, height, recline, and lumbar adjustment. In short (thats a pun) I think you would have no problem at 6'4" other than bending over almost in half to get into the car. Have fun, I'm Havinfun

The two front seats are built for big and tall Swedes, you won't have a problem. However, those rear seats are not fit even for small children if the front seats are scooted back to accomodate a tall person. I think they were just put in as a tax dodge (certain European countries used to tax 2 seaters at a higher rate then 4 seaters - thus many Euro coupes have faux rear seats unsuitable for anyone).

I am 6' 3" - 240lbs and my 1966 1800S is my daily driver. I agree with both of the previous posts - the front seats have plenty of adjustment and can handle people of rather large stature. The rear is great for your overnight bag. I have a five and six year old and they really don't fit back there anymore. The most uncomfortable motion involved with the car is getting in and out. If you get in quickly with the window down, watch out for the chrome around the wing window. Had a bad experience once with that piece of chrome and a couple ribs.....

If you are close to Columbus Georgia you can swing by and test drive mine, that would give you a feel for the size of the car.

Thanks guys. That's one worry put to rest.

Oliver, that's real kind of you but I live in northern Virginia. Bit of a drive. Thanks anyway. Got another question to ask but I think I'll start a new thread.
