Windshield wiper shaft replacement time 200 1990

The right side windshield wiper shaft assembly that comes up through the cowling is seizing up on my '90 244. Is there a bushing(s) in the housing? I drilled down along the shaft with a 1/8" drill and got some WD40 in it and it loosened up some, but overall its too far gone to expect too many more miles out of it. How is this assembly fastened onto the car? I'm assuming bolted from under the dash. I'd like to get the parts on hand before I tear the wiper linkage out. Do any online vendors carry anything like this? Not much luck finding anything but I'm sure the dealer can get it for me. $$$$$

Brian,

You might try your local pick'n'pull, for several reasons. There are usually many wiper motors to pick from, some are fairly new as they have been replaced before the owner junked them, they're cheap, and you'll get some experience taking one off before you have to work on your own. Good learning experience on their car.

Good Luck!
