Well, I just got a 242DL, 1984 model. Traded a piece of rapelling hardware worth about $25.

Of the "common" 240 models, the '84 is among the rarest, at 7887 built. Anybody want to take a guess at the ratio of DL vs. Turbo? Seems the 242 Turbo is more common, but maybe you just hear about them more.

It's a no-start. I suspect the AMM, but haven't played with it yet.

Has a rebuilt AW70 with less than 20k.

Collapsed strut cup.

Not bad for $25.

    well i feel really ripped off now!!! hehehehe i paid $600 for a 84 242 dl 4 years ago. car had 4 new tires, no rust or dents. still driving it today, just put 4 new tires on it this month. was not aware of its colectablity!!! i also gota 75 164E.......you want collectable...

    $25! That sure beats my $350 delivered-from-the-junkyard find. I didn't know the '84DL was so limited in production. How about the GL of that year? (which mine is)

    What are the GL's production numbers?

    I have a rusting, half gutted, mechanically decrepit '84 242 DL sitting in my driveway, sans transmission. Ironically, it's AMM is one of the few good parts left.
