What to do about these locks? 200

So I'm left with some pretty minor issues here.

I've still got this trunk lock waiting to be installed in the sedan. Any tips? I've tried to get that locking plate in there (both the old one and a new one) to no avail. It's been lockless for a while, but I'd like to replace it.

Then there's the glove box lock on the wagon. Seems like it's disconnected from the handle. Any thoughts on how to break into that without causing much collateral damage?

Whoops, maybe I didn't make myself clear.

The trunk doesn't have a lock right now, I pulled it out a while ago.

I've got a new trunk lock fresh from the dealer. I can slide it in the
opening, position it, and even use it a few times just fine. However,
there's a retaining clip that holds the lock in place. It's a little U
shaped thing. I've got the old clip and a new one that came with the new
lock. Removing the clip was fairly easy, however I can't quite figure out
how to make it fit back in there.

The lock will work just fine without the clip, it just won't be held into
place by anything.

make sure your lining up the lock correctly, it has one large and three smaller nubs that stick into the metal, if you dont have them lined up right you cant push the lock far enough in to allow the clip to slide in the slot. make sure you have the fiber washer also. try using a large screwdriver to get better leverage while pushing it onto the lock cyclinder.

Haaaaaaaaah.

Use a large screwdriver? I don't even have room for my hand in there.

I've got a rubbery looking gasket, but it looks as if it's probably too thick. Yes, the lock is lined up properly. Can't find my keys either. Grrr.

Whoops. I forgot about the first rule of working on cars: when in doubt, use a bigger hammer.

Hey (no advice on installing the trunk lock), whenever you go yarding try your new trunk lock key in all the glove box latches, you're bound to find out that matches- they didn't make that many different trunk keys for these cars (as I'm sure you know?). Good luck on the lock.

The glovebox will usually open with slight downward pressure on the top of the door. All that plastic flexes pretty easily.

There are a couple of glovebox locks with keys on ebay right now.
