Hi,
Sorry for the delay--I was out of town for a while and was unable to access the internet . . . .
Not sure about how things are set up on a DL, as all my work has been on the turbo. However, the folks you're buying the struts from should be able to help you on what you need.
I "think" that you will find the little spacer-rings already in the strut tube, but they're relatively cheap if you need to get them.
My car didn't have bump stops, just a big corrogated bellows/boot. I re-used the ones that were on the car as they seemed to be in fine shape. These are pretty cheap to though, so again, not a real big deal.
I followed the steps outlined in the Bentley manual and it all went pretty well. Differences were:
1. Used impact wrench (instead of volvo special tool) to loosen the nut at the top of the strut--be careful not to remove the nut . . .
2. Used a brass drift and large hammer to start unscrewing the cap nut that holds the strut insert in place. Follwed this up with a big pipe wrench once I had the spring removed.
3. Used the ipd strut tool when putting the nut at the top of the strut back together instead of the Volvo special tool. The torque required is relatively low . . . . 15 ft-lbs if I remember correctly.
Safety is paramount on this job . . . be careful with the spring compressor, and make sure you're using a goos set of jack stands. Oh, btw, now is a good time to install that bigger front sway bar . . . .
Hope this helps--again, sorry for the delay.
Regards,
Steve A-
