long-term storage (6 months) for a Volvo 700 1989

I will be leaving my 89 nonturbo 740 under a carport for 6 months while I am on sabbatical leave. What should I do to keep it OK till I return besides disconnecting the negative battery post? I plan to leave the gas tank full.
Anyone have any other ideas, suggestions?
GIA,

If you have rodents, they tend to live in the car and eat the wiring. At a minimum fill it with mothballs throughout (including in the engine compartment and other cavities) to dissuade them. You might also consider www.carbag.com for complete protection.

Absolutely fuel stabilizer (drive the car for a little while after you put it in the tank so it circulateS).

A battery trickle charger is nice if you can use it. If you get one, get the type with overcharge protection, so it just keeps the battery topped. You should be able to leave it connected during that time if so inclined. Otherwise just yank the terminal connections. I personally think it is better for the car to have everything connected. But doing so could be a hazard if something goes wrong and lights the car up (you never know).

It wouldn't hurt to fog the enigne, but I don't know about the effects on the oxygen sensor. in dry southern climates, though, there isn't much risk of corrosion internally, especially over such a short period of time.

You mean you are going to leave our cool temps in TX? North or further south?

Hope it is good for you and learn a lot.

after doing the things the other guys said ( about gas ). You should leave the trans in neutral and slightly over inflate the tire so no flat spot will form (38psi) Also remove the intake tubing from the air cleaner box and cover with a plastic bag MUST INPORTANT CHANGE THE ENGINE OIL JUST BEFORE STORING
GOOD LUCK

I would put gas stabilizer in the fuel. Don't set the parking brake, they have a tendency to rust. Don't know where you live, but mice love the insulation on the wiring. Maybe some Decon under the hood, truck, etc.

I live in extreme south Texas...will add Decon to the underhood greetings for the mice.

I use stuff called Stab-Gas. Any automotive store carries it. I use it all my gasoline stuff, both 2cycle and 4cycle. After having lawn mowers, etc, refuse to start after gumming up, went with Stab-gas several yrs ago.
