Suggestions on cleaning up a fuel tank? 1800 1971

Just now realized that the last 2 years of body work (slow pace) on my 71E with the filler neck loose and low levels of fuel in the tank has resulted in rust I can feel on the top inside of my tank. Anyone have suggestions on how to deal with this?

I found a couple shops that did this kind of work. Both charged $50 for acid treatment and pressure wash. One of the shop has a good reputation applying a coating on the inside for a total of $150. Unfortunately, it takes 2-3 weeks to cure and I decided not to wait.

The good radiator shops have a big oven that they can "cook" the tanks in and burn off all the extra crap. That is what I did on my 1800 that had sat for 10 years.

This is good to hear.. I am sure that when I get the fuel tank on my '68 empty of the water that has accumlated it's going to need something... I will be selling the car and want to be 100% upfront with the buyer. Knowing that can be done will be a big help

You are in Greeley, right? I don't know the specifics of places up there but can point you to a place in Denver if you like. Call every area radiator shop and ask them if they'll clean it out. Many won't touch gas tanks but those that will are who you need.
