Gutter trim removal 200 1985

G'day All
Thanks for help on last post! I am wondering if the chrome (steel or alum.) trim on the rain gutters above the doors is removable, and if it is, whether u can leave it off. The chrome is definitely looking dated, but the paint underneath(i hope!) should still be in reasonable condition.
If its not, what is the best way to put it back on!!
Thanks in advance,
Chris

    Gutter trim removal 200 1985

I've fiddled around with the trim on my 245. One piece is missing on it. It appears that you can slide the little pieces that cover the joints to the side and pry from the bottom (window) side outward until it pops off. This might scratch the paint in the removal process, I don't know. I imagine it might also affect the drip rail's ability to keep drips off your head or off of the windows. The channel is much shallower with the trim removed.
