Need IgnitionControlModule-Quick Refer.Parts Catalog Missing It 200 1984

Hey Guys -

First Off - Y'All Have a Great Memorial Weekend!

To Our ServiceMen, Current and Past :
I and my family will bow our heads this weekend for you and for others who never made it home. It is because of you that we can enjoy such freedoms as a 3 day weekend. Thank You!

I have a 84 turbo. B21FT engine.
Quick Reference Parts Catalog, top of Pg. 75, doesn't even list B21FT. What's up with that?

How hard is it to get a new ignition control module? Prefer to stay away from FCP/ScanTech. Anyone with a volvo near this age get a ICM from GrotonAuto Parts (NorthEast US)? That's the only one that comes to mind on a late Friday night. Also how much does one of these boooooooogers cost?

TIA

- Matt

Matt, where is the ignition control module? Is this item also called the ECU, located inside the passenger side'panel? If so, I have 3 Bosch ECU, each w/ different numbers. I have a box of spare parts that w/ this '83 240GL and some parts are from a '85 240DL. AMM, grill, coil, speedometer, ecu, cruise control units, glovebox, vents, a lot of relays, etc. I've been meening to put them on ebay, but busy w/ the house. Let me know.

I was under the impression that the Turbos didn't have ICM's???

The 2 computers (located passenger side, behind kick panel) are for hte Lamda Sond and the CIS

Perhaps you're talking about hte one next to the battery? If so, I can check one of my 3 240T's and let you know the correct Bosch #'s

    Peace-

And put up your flag, too. On whichever Memorial Day you celebrate, the real one - May 30th, and/or the 3-day-weekend-trumps-all one - May 26th this year.

ICM for 1984 240 B21FT. As you found out, not listed in your QuikRef Parts Catalog. Not listed in the previous edition, either. However, there is one listed in my WorldPac parts book.

They don't say whose part number is whose, but it's not hard to figure out.

Bosch number given is 0 227 100 018. What appears to be a Volvo part number is 1266714. Strangely enough, that same number is in the Quick Ref book as 1266714-3, for the 1975- B20F, B21, and B23 engines in the 240, 260, and 740 up to 1981.

If you are poking about in a recycle yard, look for the Bosch number. Parts usually don't have the Volvo p/n showing.

Price and source - visit several of the parts houses that advertise on the BBRD, you can go all the way to making payment and get their price, but then cancel the transaction.

Remember to look on eBay and in BBRD Classifieds - list your needs as WTB, Want To Buy.

    Good Luck,

    Bob

      B.C.- Educate Me;the Real One Is May 30? Explain. 200 1984

You give me that and I'll give you this. Although you may already know it.

      Q. Why does a gun salute use 21 shots? Not 34 or 19 or 23 or ...??

      A. Cause if you take the individual digits in the year 1776; they add up to 21. ( 1 + 7 + 7 + 6 = 21)
