photo of swing pedal conversion 444-544

Snapshot of my 544 with 140 pedalbox, this project has become a bit bogged down due to moving house and racing Alfas but I'm raring to go again. Speaking of Alfa's I have been looking for front seats for a long time, the 544 is narrow, I have made it even more difficult by fitting a remote gearlever and widening the tunnel for a Jtype M41, also I wanted good seats that looked period. Well I have just picked up some Alfa Guilia GT ( about 1967 )seats which fit all the above criteria, they need a lot of work so it will be expensive but they should work well and look exactly right.

Hans, I did the same thing and am very glad I moved the pedals. My conversion used 1800 parts and I just welded a piece of angle iron on the firewall (engine side) and holes in that for the clutch and brake master cylinders. Works great! I also changed to a M41 with the remote shifter (short). I used a whole tunnel from a 1800 and as for seats I had some from a 1800ES (high back) in leather that were narrow enough to work fine. By the way, where did you take the heater? Won't fit with those pedals?

No heater I'm afraid, although since starting teh project I have moved to a colder climate and may reconsider that. 1800 seats would have been my first choice too, especially those leather ones that look like expensive scandinavian lounge furniture, they are of course unobtainable here.
Happy PVing
