'89 240 Power Steering problem 200

A couple of days ago, the steering started to jerk randomly and the belt started to squeel. After disconnecting the belt I found that I could not turn the steering to the right.

So I drained the power steering fluid and disconnected all the hoses (two) from the steering gear and that freed up the steering enough to get it home.

My question is, is it safe to drive the 25 miles to my local dealer? Are they a few thinks I should check first to see if I can make these repairs my self?

Gee thats weird , the belt started squeeling that would make me think some thing was wrong in the power stearing pump it self . Or a colapsed hose that would block flow and slow or stop pump from turning . The resine i say this is that after you removed the hoses , the rack worked (well you know what i mean).
